About Us
Accessible Learning Technology Alternatives has been providing a wide range of services to schools and families in Nassau and Suffolk Counties since 1997. We specialize in the provision of Assistive Technology services, including evaluations, student follow-up, professional development and district-wide consultation services. We strive to support educational and therapeutic expectations for student success with communication, learning and independence through the connection of professionals and families to assistive technology tools and strategies.

Our Director
Lorianne Hoenninger, M.A. ATP, Director of Accessible Learning Technology Alternatives, has been involved in the field of education for 25 years, as an educator and evaluator of children with special needs, as an adjunct professor, and as a technology specialist working with local school districts to build AT programs. Dually certified in both elementary and special education, she is one of a select group of practitioners across the country to earn certification as an Assistive Technology Practitioner through a competitive exam offered by RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America. Ms. Hoenninger has presented at numerous conferences locally and nationally, has appeared on WLIW/Channel 21 TV’s Public Affairs programs, writes for a variety of trade publications, and is president of the New York State Technology and Media Division of the Council of Exceptional Children.

Our Team
ALTA contracts with teachers, special educators, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists and other professionals with expertise in various aspects of assistive technology. Many of our providers have attended the ALTA "AT@school" seminar series, others have received their training from NYS state (LATS) or university programs.
